wobbly steering

Post by Jaders » Tue Nov 17, 2009 7:04 pm

Can you help a bird in need, The steering on my little blue baby (sj 413) has been quiet wobbly for few weeks now. I took it the nice men in car hospital but they couldn't find anything wrong. it's still not right. It feels loose (I don't know if that makes any sense) and when you turn courners it feels as though it's over steering. the machanic said it might be because it's such a small car on such big wheels (personally i don't think my wheels are that big). Has he got the right and I'm just being paranoid or does any1 recon there might be something wrong?

it's probably just play in the steering box. on top of the steering box there's a 12mm (I think) nut on an adjuster screw. undo the nut a bit and tighten the screw with a flat screwdriver. just keep tightening it until the play has gone, and then tighten the nut up

Sjs never have the most responsive steering, and do like to oversteer if you put your foot down around a bend, but as others have said bigger wheels can exagerate it all! your welcome to pop round mine and i can have a look for you.
