Hi, as my sj didn't come with a radio, I'm not sure how one is fitted. I think I've seen holders that go in front of the gear stick below he dash, or am I wrong?
Can any confirm how one is fitted,

Yeah. SJs have a seperate dash slot that bolts under the dash infront of the gear lever.
