Re: Sailsbury Sunday 12th May
I don't know if it's "officially" open or not, I just followed the map and didn't notice anything that would have indicated that it might have been closed. It was certainly looking pretty well used at the time. I need to get my snorkel on before going back round there too as the water came over the bonnet at one point!
I haven't done Yatesbury track so will be good to go somewhere new.
Looking forward to it!

Dont know what the plan is. The thread title says Salisbury plain but half way through there was talk of doing the Ridegway.Arek wrote:Hi there :-)

Either way a tame enough route can probably be planned if you are brave enough to give it a go if we come across some tougher bits.

Exactly I thought more about that Ridgeway rather than Salisbury (I think I'm not ready yet for that).dan_2k_uk wrote:Dont know what the plan is. The thread title says Salisbury plain but half way through there was talk of doing the Ridegway.

I think I'm brave ;-) but not stupid (I hope ).
If you think guys that will not be for me just say it please. I would avoid car damage also. If something will happen to our GV my wife will kill me

Last I saw Yatesbury lane was flat compressed hardcore.ScottieJ wrote:Ill check if it is officially open or not, the ridgeway will be open in may so would be cool to head out that way instead of going to salisbury plain and I dont really need a map for most of that area we should go see what the yatesbury track is like nowadays used to be quite a challenge! I miss driving around cherhill used to do it a few times a week
Just checked Wiltshire County Councils on-line definitive map and the TRO's on all the BOAT's.
There's probably the most I've seen open for a while at the moment so lets hope it stays that way.
Only notable BOAT's that are closed are the bit South of Brokenborough on the Fosseway but we wont be anywhere near there and the fun bit down from Barbury Castle towards Whitefield hill which is scheduled to re-open in July
The long bit of the Wessex Ridgeway (That the Cherhill monument one links off) from The Avebury roundabout that goes all the way to that picnic area by the golf club between Devizes and Calne is even open. (Doubt they have removed the bollards from the end though!)
What's the plan??

Happy for any meeting point between us and you but it depends who else is coming?
Is the plan still Salisbury or is it North Wilts? I'm not fussed but if people from further south want to come it would be better to meet on the Plain.
