What to do next

Post by Jordi » Fri Apr 05, 2013 6:21 pm

So the paypal is looking healthy now.

I'm wondering what to do next.

In hand is a 1.6, rocklobster, PAS, 33s and some paint.

So do i?
Full float back axle?
6000lb front winch?
Custom fuel tank (wanting a squarer one to use available space better)
Roll cage?

Anyone any other ideas?

Aye, i'm working on that one. Its not gonna be too expensive thankfully.

I like how you recommend a cage, when to the best of my knowledge you don't have one.

Rank them in order for me, lol.

Next time i'm free on a saterday i'm off to see a engineer bloke about axle trussing too. Didn't know if a full float would be a good idea for 33s. Yours seems to have been alright for a while Scott.

Winch is always handy but 99% of the time i'm always with someone to pull me out if needed. No plans for competitions where i'd need a winch.

I'm tempted to go for cage with a tubular rear end, custom tank and storage locker and tidier bumper.

I have a cage, it's just not fitted yet  it's going to get fitted very soon though ;)

Full float isn't essential for 33s, I've never had an issues apart from killing wheel bearings a lot. but the full float gives you stronger wheel bearings, rear discs and makes diff changes a lot quicker! Plus i'll need the extra strength when the air locker goes in.

They are all good mods, so can't really put them in an order.

I need to see how much cash i actually have. Got quite a chunk available. Might be able to do full floater and a cage with in a short space of time.

I was gonna do rear discs on the axles as they are Dazerade (again like everything else, the bits are sat there). But as Scottie says tougher bearings on the full float and i've a set of stub axles sat there ready. While the axles apart might as well beef it up?

I'll have to have a good look at my little Zuk one day and see how i feel. I've been toying with the idea of plating the chassis legs too and making additional body mounts to bolt to the sills. Then i can use the sills to mount a cage onto.

I just want to start the mods again badly. I have money now and loads of bits to fit. Not long now and i'll have my manifold and rocklobster back.

When i take this week off i am gonna enjoy it!

Got so many bits Mike i can hardly move in the garage. Got some more bits to stick on ebay. Sold some biggish bits this week so they're to parcel up when i get home. That'll free up some space.

I need a saterday off to go get some quotes for fab work. I don't fancy trussing the axles myself, it just takes a bit of over excitement and the case is warped. 99% Sure the spare casings are SJ not samurai. I'll have one last measure when i get home then Ebay/scrap them. Same with the shafts and diffs. I need to try and unseize one, see if its sammi or 413.

Fairly sure a cage and tray back will be next. Just trying to find a cheapish rectangular fuel tank.
