Low Tickover??

Hi all.

I'm experiencing some trouble with my 1995 Sammy. Its the single point fuel injection not the carb and the problem has always been there. When it gets warm, the tickover drops right off to the point of stalling. I managed to cure the stalling by lifting the base setting for teh tickover, but the tickover still drops extremely low, to the point where the needle sits on the lower stop.

I have a diag light flashing on the dash but dont know the codes?

Not really that knowledgeable on this stuff, do they run an idle speed control valve or is it too early for that??

welcome to the forum, i'm afraid I don't know much about the single point injection on sjs, only ever played witht he carb'd models but i'm sure someone will come along and help you out!

I had a similar problem in a shogun, I couldnt get the hang of what the problem was, so in the end I took it to a local garage who plugged it into his computer thing.

The down side was that it needed a new idle speed control valve, and ecu (£900!!) Might be worth trying to get it plugged in before you spend money.

Sounds silly but have you tried giving it a good service?

I work for Suzuki on bikes, got the car boys to have a look, its to early to plug in to a diag box, and the code from the dash light is 12, which corresponds to no fault found!! Brilliant!

It's all been well serviced and maintained. I think the next step is to look at the ISC valve, just wondered if anyone had and previous problems. If it needs a new ecu then I'm sure I can just man up and deal with the low tickover!!!
