lift kit and shocks help needed

Post by duncslow » Sat Feb 16, 2013 5:18 pm

help needed please. Today I have fitted a 2" shackle lift on my 410 santana and during fitting I realised that the shocks dont extend enough and I have had to bend the spring eye down to get the bolts in. I have read that astra shocks are an option and have seen these on evil bay. opinions needed guys

I know you probably don't want to hear this but personally to solve the problem I would just put the standard shackles back on, lift shackles have more negatives than plus points when used with standard springs and will actually make your Sj handle worse on road and perform worse off road.

Thanks for the input, but I need the lift to help the sump clear as its a vit engine. Also the lift ideas are numerous and confusing to me being new to the scene. I cant seem to get my head round the differences and types of conversions and I also need to keep within some sort of budget. do you have any reasonably easy ideas for me to try that isnt going to break the bank and doesnt need a degree in engineering

Regards Chris

Whats in involved in fitting a 1.3 sump, is it a case of new gasket and bolt up

I believe so. It's essentially the same block.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Oil pick up requires making a bit shorter too.

With lift shackles you can get shock relocation kits, I used that on my old 410...flea bay has some.
If it ticks over...leave it
