fuel consumption for road use

Post by mic » Thu Jul 09, 2009 8:28 pm

not many threads with mpg in it, just wondered what they do around town etc rather than offroading? i assume the 1.0 is worse than the 1.4 due to weight but i still cant put a figure on it.

cheers

it varies 20-30mpg for both 410 & 413 (closer to 20`s) Officially the 413 does 28mpg combined (when new) and the 410 29mpg
If you have offroad tyres it makes your mpg worse as does fitting oversized tyres, at one point my samurai on its poorly asian carb and big offroad tyres was getting 18mpg now im on a weber i get low 20`s. In fairness you do have to boot an sj to get it to go at anything resembling road speeds.

In my old 410 with standard gearing and 31s i always worked it out as 25 miles for every 5litres i put in as i didn't have a fuel gauge and i never ran out of fuel  I think it actually did around 28 mpg on average and i used to floor it everywhere! my 1.6 8vit was around 30mpg and i didn't drive that lightly either!

Then again i have got my dad to set up my engines and he's ben messing with zukes since the LJ days!
