Underbody Armour?
As above. Is anybody running any on SJs or Samurais?
I've never bother in 14years and now its lifted nothing really touches the ground. Went through some pretty big ruts and bomb holes last week and didn't even have any chunks of mud around my ateerings arms or damper.
One thing i wouldn't mine is a plan for HD transfer box mounts if any one has one. As they are super easy to bend if you are doing a bit of rock crawling or just bash a rock in ruts or deep mud.
After the diffs my t/box is the next most vulnerable and was thinking of a guard and HD mounts.
Again diff guards, mine has the raised welds aroind the drain plug to help prevent it being knocked off but cracking the housing has been known. Any one got plans or know of a good supplier of guards that fit really snug to the diff and axles?
Cheers

Re: Underbody Armour?
Planning on exploring a minefield?
Mine's got some sort of guard under the radiator and one protecting the tank. I'm pretty sure they're Suzuki standard.

There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: Underbody Armour?
I think if you are going to do some serious offroading in an SJ ideally you want diff guards, a tbox guard and heavy duty tank guard if its in the original position, these are the most vulnerable parts underneath.
My transferbox is raised 2" so it doesn't hang below the chassis rails and also has this fitted
Don't think I ever got some finished pics of it but this is the tank guard I made for mine but it ended up on my dads sj as I moved the fuel tank so no longer needed it, just uses the original mounts but I replaced the thin metal with 3mm, ill get under my dads sj and take a pic of it finished.

Re: Underbody Armour?
As Scottie says I have a Hd tank guard, rockwatt tbox guard and I have a front diff guard gonna make a rear one
My winch tray is my new radiator guard
Rock and tree sliders are a must too

Re: Underbody Armour?
Fuel tanks well raised above rear chassis rails so its not an issue. I've bent a few t/box mounts. But that sits fairly high now.
I've got access to plenty of steel and can weld ok. Was just looking for some diagram / plans so i cauld fab up some guards.
Its one of those jobs if i do it myself apart from the time taken i can fab a diff guard for a £5 that would be £150 to buy.
Cheers

Re: Underbody Armour?
One out of 3 sorted. I've got just the right size piece of 3mm hardox for that.
Cheers Scottie

All you need is an angle grinder and a drill that + a hole saw all I used to make mine, my first one I didn't even use a hole saw just drilled around in a circle and filed the homes out.dazerede wrote:ummmmm tempted but i sent the chap a message and he wanted 35 quid without holes and not folded

Seriously just make it yourself
Jordi I'd make a tbox guard out of 5mm min to fold it just make a slit along where you need to fold it (halfway through ish) fold it and weld up the slit after its folded.
