I've just been looking for mapping apps and downloaded a few free apps. These are all small files and depends on gps and phone signal to update as you move around.
You can buy 14 Landranger apps that cover the UK. These are approx 500mb and stores the whole map on your phone. So even in the middle of nowhere its just like having a paper map.
Just wondered if anyone had any experience with them? Looks like a good idea to me. All stored on a phone or tablet. Wasn't sure of the landranger details and scale. Also looks like free lifetime updates. Can't be a bad thing.
Or are we better off with paper explorer series maps?

Re: OS Landranger Apps
All my paper OS maps are Land ranger, The scale is easy enough to use, might look into these mobile ones, only bad thing is the phone screen is quite small.

The lads i was out laning with where all pretty tech'd up. But best piece of kit they all had was ipad or similar with the program memory map.
You can do routing on it using OS maps. Didnt look at it much but from what i did see looked pretty good.
