The spring to chassis bolts often rust into the bush spacer. So unless you have somewhere handy it may be worth getting some replacements first.

So I should get the shackle to chassis bush with the spring? Sweet.

My dad mentioned checking the U-bolts too. I'll get under tomorrow and have a look and see what I think. Might order the bolts with the springs too.

If I can I want to get a set of bump stops and do them at the same time too. Any ideas?

Right, U bolts are pretty corroded on the 'U' side so I think I'll buy a new set of those.

I'm thinking I'll take the plunge and buy the spring mounting bolts too if Jap4x4spares sell them.

Shocks all seem to be leak free, though they're dirty and rusty on the outside. Can't really tell what the state of the bushes are though. Looks like the shocks can be done easily enough without taking anything else off (massive plus point for leaf springs), so I'll have a better judge of them when I've got her in bits to do the springs same time as I check out the brakes.

Still stumped about the squeal when I turn right. Doesn't sound like a bearing to me.

So, shopping list tomorrow morning:

Full set of springs,
full set of U-bolts,
full set of spring mounting bolts,

On a slightly different note, has anyone ever taken an SJ through an automated car wash? My roof is turning green from parking under trees at Uni.

Regarding going through a carwash in a sj i havent dont it my self but carwashes can cause more damage to the paint then its worth as the brushes spin so quick etc.

tbh i dont think you can beat using a bucket of hot soapy water,jet wash , and some proper car cleaning chemicals. ;)

i used M12 bolts on my springs mounts, i had to hacksaw my bolts off to remove my rear springs which was a complet B*stard lol so i got a pair of M12 bolts about 100mm long and a couple of washers ans nylock nuts, you may need a pair for up front aswel as they could do the same thing, i was lucky with mine that they werent rusted together...

Was £495 at llama for +1.5", u bolts and bushes.

The springs are looking to cost about £240 including bushes. Don't know about U-bolts yet.
Probably got postage on top.
