Hi all,
Has anyone changed their old bushes on their leaf-springs with the nylon polybushes ?
If so, how hard/easy was it to do , and would i need any special equipment ? I have the new bushes and bolts, now i just need to find a nice weekend to get my finger out to do it.
Cheers
Dom

Re: Polybush for Leaf-springs
i found it to be a realy easy job! personaly i took the whole leaf of made things much easier! I also replaced my U bolts at the same time
1.chop the old bolts off with gary the grinder and the U bolts, be careful not to nick any brake lines!!!!!
2. get a little fire going and put the end of the leaf in to melt the old rubber jobbies
3. clean the inside of the eye with abit of emary cloth
4. run some grease on the inside of the eye and outside of the new bushes
5. push the new bushes in, a veriaty of tools may be used, vice, clamp, BFH
6. repeat on the other end of the leaf
7. bolt everything back up,
8. repeat all round
9. get a beer, cider, G'n'T or what evers your poison and chill out and relax
maye sure you put your axle on strait, if you do one corner at a time it wont be to much of a problem, when i done mine i took the axle right off, so had to attatch the leafs at the chassis end then used a BFH to lighn them up at the shakle end.
hope that all helps!

Re: Polybush for Leaf-springs
Nice one Dan , Cheers for the info matey.
I hope to find some time soon to do it. Also im taking off the new shocks that i put on around 6 months ago, i just dont like them, they are after-market ones, and they have too much play in them , making me bounce like fcuk even over the slightest bump. So i have ordered some new original SJ shocks to go on instead.
And i will keep the ones i take off for the Jimny.
Many thanks again Dan.
