so it looks like for my 1300 ill need a Bdl needle but still unsure about spring? will it just be a bit of trial and error or has someone done same conversion and know more than what i do.
as for fuel mix i take it this will be the same have a play until its running right.

or make me an offer, i've got a basically new bdl needle and a red spring that was fitted to my old 1300 engine for a whole 10 miles before it went bang
if in doubt, FLAT OUT!

mans tool kit > duct tape, wd40 and a bfh is all you ever need

Haven't got a spare hiff44 just a spare needle and spring.. Setting it up isnt hard it just takes a bit of time while you fiddle with it.

Having the wrong needle and spring means that the piston in the carb won't rise at the correct rate for the engine and the wrong needle means that you'll get the wrong amount of fuel being fed into the engine.

Given the yellow and a BBZ needle are for a 1600, I'd say the piston won't rise fast enough, so you get extra fuel and the thinner needle will give you extra fuel too.

I'm sure someone else will have a link to a tutorial for changing the spring and needle.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
