Reverse lights not working, help??

Post by lordyharmerz » Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:12 pm

Just sorting all the gremlins ready for MOT and have found i have no reverse lights, Both bulbs show no reading through a multimeter, have traced the wires from the rear lights straight down the middle of the car and up above the gearbox, But no switch, i just cant find it, any1 knows the whereabouts of it on a 410 santana?

if your looking at the sj through the engine bay, you should just about be able to see the switch on top of the gearbox a couple of inches back from the edge of the bellhousing, might be able to get too it through the hole the gearstick comes through too???

Yeah found that easily, was looking on the underside before, it turned out to be a bad connection on 1 of the wires that comes up into the engine bay from that switch, behind the distrbuter, there was a plastic covered spade connector had caroded, just swapped it out and they worked a treat, Ive got 2 reverse lights (does that mean anything? ), have been having trouble with bad earths under the hood for front lights but drilled a new hole and re-did all.
Also fitted a new fog lamp which again didnt work, again it was an earth problem . Thankfully all is sorted accept my defender side lights are vastly brighter than my main beams. gona purchase some new bulbs to cure that i hope.

So very nearly done now im getting impatient
