Scottie's LJ80Q restoration
Re: Scottie's LJ80Q restoration
Yeah Jayson still has an LJ I think, im waiting for him to get back to me about popping over for some parts for mine as he doesn't live that far from me.
I presume you've owned LJs for a long time then Gonzo, I used to go to the rhino rally and things like that with my dad in his LJ around that time.

Yeh i use to go to the rhino rallys. I must get in touch with rhino ray as im sure he was on one with us and i have some photos to embarress him. Was your father in the lj register? Just remembered sean ran a spares place called "suzis place" I often wonder what happened to him.
Ive had an Lj since I was 17! It was my first 4x4 I bought. Im 42 now so it's been a few years. Had a 10 year gap from them. Wish I could find my original one. It was called "heap the anus" travelled all over Europe in it. Now I just do 5 miles and wonder how on earth i drove so far in it loaded up with camping gear for 2 weeks!! People i guess were more patient then with a little car doing 50 to 55 mph on the motorway!!

My dad wasn't on the LJ register I found out today, he also said that he's going to try and dig out some pics of the old LJ, it was a tintop with a whizzkid sc100 engine that got turned into a pick up after he sold it.
I decided what colour its going today: Richmond green

Re: Scottie's LJ80Q restoration
Will be good to see some pics from the old days. I must get my laptop swithed on and get some more pics on. Im too lazy and just use my iphone! That colour looks good. Goes well with the black. Im sure the odd tastefull pillar box red on the odd item would set it off nicely. Are we setting a possible LJ meet up date for August next year? Or is that tempting fate this early in the game? Lol
Re: Scottie's LJ80Q restoration
Yeah hopefully he'll be able to find some pics
I wanted to do the LJ a factory colour but I'm not a fan of the red so it was either Richmond Green or Iceland Blue but my sj is blue so thought I should go green
August could be do-able I think its only a ground up restoration after all

any updates
Re: Scottie's LJ80Q restoration
I gotta get the SJ finished first, there's 3 SJs in the workshop at the mo so no space for it
Re: Scottie's LJ80Q restoration
Haven't even finished sorting out the new workshop yet but thought I'd start the tear down! This rustoration is going to be fun, think I'm going to need about £600 worth of repair panels from Germany

You can always count on the Germainians when it comes to cars.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
