need advice on rollcage pls guys
need advice on rollcage pls guys
had a few scaff poles last week so have spent few hours with my cheap pipe bender
today moulding the poles to the shape of the anus was suprised how good it went,
i welded 3"by2" boxsection to the sill so i can weld the poles directly down on to it,
iv wacked the boxsection with a lump hammer and it aint budged butt dont trust it,
so if anyone has any advise hopefully with some pics of how they made a solid base for an external
rollcage id be very greatfull
thanks guys

Re: need advice on rollcage pls guys
personally I would advise against using scaff pipe for a roll cage, firstly the galvanisation gives of poisonousness fumes when welding and it's not actually very strong.
48x3.2mm Hrew or blueband tube is cheap, stronger and will make a better cage.
also be careful when using a crush type bender as it is easy to crease the tube therefore making it weaker.
I would also advise tying the rocksliders into the chassis, that will also make for a stronger and safer cage.
A badly built cage is just as if not more dangerous than having no cage and it is there to save your life!
My rock sliders will have a cage attached to them eventually, I have welded 6mm thick spreader plates to the chassis and then welded the outriggers and rock sliders to those as the SJs chassis is not very thick, welding straight to the chassis isn't really strong enough and the chassis could tear in a bad roll over
