mmm waffles
hi guys, just wondering about waffle boards.
as i cant afford a nice set of m/ts at the mo i was thinkin of gettin some waffle boards just in case.
never had any dealings with them before and i've seen some cheapie alternatives out there.
is it a case of you get what you pay for or will some of the cheap ones still help if i get in a jam.
cheers
steve

Re: mmm waffles
Steve, I have three Samurai's I take off road regularly.
We go to some pretty extreme muddy places so a couple of years back I bought a couple of sets of waffle boards to take with us.
So far we've NEVER used them and have very rarely seen anyone else use them (except for in challenge situations where no outside assistance is allowed.
I daresay if you went somewhere on your own they may well be useful to avoid getting stuck but with another truck there and a winch you'll probably be the same as us and never use them.
They look the part bolted to the back of a truck though
They are usually sold in 38mm and 50mm widths but I've seen a 110 Landrover drive over 38mm ones no problem so 50mm is probably overkill for a Suzuki
If you don't have a winch and go out on your own then yeah they might come in useful, if you get stuck you could jack up the spinning wheel and put one under it to get some traction

Re: mmm waffles
I don't think those ones on amazon are boards, they say snow mats? I seldom use my waffle boards, however they have come in handy when I've been out on my own and got stuck as highlander has said.

I used some old carpet.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
