why not, you might suprise yourself and learn some thing new. just have a practice on some srcrap sheet first. get the power and wire speed right so you dont keep blowing holes through it and if your confident have a go on your zuke. or maby he could give you a quick demonstration.

Yeh I'm going to get some scrap and put some time into practicing before I go near the zook. If I'm not happy with the way my practice welds go il get someone else to do it

looks like a good one that, not alot of rust by the look of it, you might want to take the arches off the outside to see if theres any rust hiding behind them, all depends on how much work you want to put into it...

What sort of mig? And what power. Best to use gas and 0.6mm wire. If its a gasless welder I wouldn't bother.
The best way to learn is to have a go, just take your time to get the repair patches a real good fit and clean all the metal off so its nice and shiny before you start.
Butt weld them in for the best results. Also buy a few flap discs, you can make it look like it's never been welded if you take your time to get the fit good and grind back all the welds.
But yeah have a practice on some 1mm metal before you dive in.

I'm not sure, I'm going to get it on weds night so I will let you know. It is a gas one tho.
I also have the oppertunity to borrow a different one now too so might see which is best!
What thickness is the steel on the zook?

It's around 1 to 1.2 mm but being 20 years old its more like welding something that's 0.5mm thick
I usually use 1.2mm or 1.6mm for repairs though depending where they are.
