Can anyone translate "girl" to english

Post by dan_2k_uk » Fri Mar 09, 2012 12:25 am

Mrs just came home saying the brakes on her mk3 golf intermitently feel like bubble wrap.

I took it for a 10 min spin and they feel spot on to me.

She says its only when braking gently so thats the ABS ruled out.

Apparently it makes a ticking sound and the pedal steps down in sync (hence the bubble wrap I guess)

I wouldn't rule out ABS, sounds like thats what it is.

I had a similar problem on my Sierra recently, ABS actuating under very light braking when coming to a stop (under 10mph).

Turned out to be a dirty ring sensor on one of the front wheels.

and according to the manual its not even supposed to work at low speed!

p.s. an ex girlfriend of mine arrived home one night complaining about a steering problem...

Went outside and found one of these on the rear :hahaha:

Snap, my old smart car did the same, it was fine braking from speed bit less than 20mph the brake peddle used to judder, it turned out the reluctor rings (abs rings) had cracked & split on the rear. Smart cars were pretty notorious for it (when I started looking) & it was mostly due to corrosion on the drive shafts,

I have tried my hardest to explain to her what abs feels like and she seems to think it isnt. Will have a look later though

Cheers

The bubble wrap thing to me sounds EXACTLY like ABS.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.
