black smoke after engine swap?????????????
Re: black smoke after engine swap?????????????
Thanks Twiss and Tramp, really good to see the pics, makes it so much easier to visualise.
I have taken your advice and put an advert in the wanted section of difflocks classifieds
I am also going to my first off road meeting this weekend with a buddy at 4x4without a club at Aldermaston, so maybe somebody there might have one, or know of one.

Good for you, Have you had any leads?
I thought I best post some photos of the weber I have....
This is my weber fitted (using the kit) The plenum chamber shouldn't be red but I couldn't help but paint it As you can see It connects to the original airbox and almost looks standard, It uses the original throttle cable but you need to route and mount the choke cable that comes with the kit,
here are the instructions that come with the weber kit, you can see exactly what you get and what you need to mount the 32/36dgv

Hi Tramp,
May have a couple of leads, a guy is advertising some other bits on ebay, and thinks he may have an SU. Waiting for him to come back to me. Another guy on difflock is advertising a converted van, so i have emailed hime to see if he has the original carb, just to get me through the MOT.
But - Those pictures you sent, thanks very much for those. I am quite taken at how good the Weber kit looks, as you say, to the uninitiated it looks like a factory fit, i find that impressive, and looking at the instructions you kindly sent, looks like a fairly straight forward bolt on job, nice clear diagram. so we will see????
If nothing happens by the weekend, following the Aldermaston meet up, think i will probably pop down to sailsbury and get that weber conversion kit.

Brilliant I'm glad it was something so simple (and cheap to fix!)
Re: black smoke after engine swap?????????????
heres a pic of the bent rod, which i bent back to straight, also bent the quarter circular throttle cable guide, and the spindle itself. And on the other end of the spindle, a return spring came of its mount, reset this. Oh and bent the end stop for the spindle, just out of shot, again straightened this, and stretched the throttle cable.
