Unprepared idiot's!

Post by 4eye » Fri Jan 16, 2009 5:36 pm

Hi peep's....thought i'd tell ya about a little run that turned sour...!

I had a call from a mate to say he just mot'd his standard sj and if i'd like to jump in before we had to go to his wife's suprise birthday, so with that we
Set out for a local play area and all was fine...he let me have a play and still everything was goin as planned...but just as we were goin we came across a drop into a shallow puddle(or so we thought)...as we went over all was good untill we hit the bottom...turns out that under that near foot of water was a bog of churned mud of which the bars embedded themselves...funny at the time and now when i look back...but it weren't when trying to get it out for near 4hrs...with many of phone calls and with me falling in the bog! (Well my mate found that funny...!)

To cut the story short...we managed to get a friend of a friend to yank us out...but by this time we had missed his wife's suprise party...she was not pleased...!and to say that neither was mine!

I have done something similar, thought that the slope i was going down was gentle all the way, but the last 1m was a near vertical drop into some thick mud, I bottomed out and got my bumper stuck, fortunatly for me i was at a play site, but still had to swollow my pride and let a landy pull me out!

  sorry i shouldn't laugh but we've all done it!

I've been out with two mates in range rovers before and the first track we went down that day turned out to be the last track. It started out a bit rutted and wasn't too bad and well then it turned into hell! vehicles got stuck about 10 metres apart and no matter how hard we tried with all the equipment we had; we couldn't get either vehicle out! 5 hours later a lonesome hybrid 90 came down the same track. he managed to recover both vehicles from the place they where stuck! however all 3 of us then carried on down the track only for all 3 vehicles to get stuck! the only vehicle that managed to free itself blew a rear diff in the process and then had to recover the 90 with a blown diff! and well eventually we all made it to safe ground! we olnly spent 7 hours in total on that byway and prob only went 200/300 metres!

I was also out on a solo mission in my suzuki one day when i managed to put it on its side. it was just me and my mate in the vehicle! only had to wait 2 hours for my dad to turn up in his surf with 4 of my mates to laugh at me and help me get it back on its wheels!

I could carry on for hours with all the stories of offroad days gone wrong i've got, but i think i'll stop there

yeah definatly not alone i got stuck one night till 5am.

just went out for a cruse on a local lane and met some random guys from oxford. they started egging me on to give this real tricky bit a go. anyway i had to go for it and got so far that the guy in the rangey on 35's that promised to pull me out when i got stuck couldnt get to me so a disco went in to get him out who also got promptly stuck. Then their other disco drove round to the other end of the track to try come get me. he also got bogged down about 80m from me. last resort was to send in a 90 on at's. that didnt work either! so all five vehichles were stuck in the middle of a forest pitch black freezing cold. One disco smashed his headlights and radiator and the proceded to comletley killed his battery winching so much. my mrs and mate killed my battery listning to the stereo whilst i assisted the other rescue mission despite being told that was exactly what would happen. Eventually with a lot of digging shunting tugging hi-lifting and some more digging we made it out at 5am but god knows what time the other guys got back to oxford!!!!

anyways thats my little tale
