Right, been wiring in Russ' ignition system

Got +ve and -ve going from distributor to ignition coil

Got a +ve coming from the key/ignition circuit, going to +ve terminal on the coil

Got the -ve from the coil going to body earth.

No spark!

Rotor arm is turning correctly...

On my spanish samurai, it's basically the same, but instead of going to the earth, the -ve leads disappear off into the loom via a plastic plug.
Is it something really obvious I've missed before I try a different coil? Hmmm
Should the -ve from the coil be earthing on the engine instead of the body? It was originally on the body before we took the engine out.
May have pulled an earth wire off I suppose? But the interior electrics still work

Colours boyo colours? It's all about the colours

did you not get my PM? What you got? Is russ's Jap or Spanish?

It should not be earthed to the body, only 3 wires, 2 to + and 1 to - to run.

The 4th is the rev counter and that is on - (prob the one disappearing into the loom on yours)

The colours are all weird cos its a jap SJ with a vit engine...

The circuit is as follows

If I connect a bulb across the terminals on the coil it is lighting up with the ignition on, not off

I still need to know the colours that you have Twiss

What's going on with that blue? It should not be spliced and earthed? It should just link the coil and dizzy, there shouldnt be any wires earthed.

Black w/white tracer to coil + yeah?
What you got from dizzy to coil +?
What you got from dizzy to coil -?

Got the -ve from the coil going to body earth.

Ditch that negative to body.

I've read the vit wires are black/white tracer and brown/white tracer. Scottie confirmed this some months back (cheers) so have done this. Hope it's right

That's quite random... I clearly remember removing the wire when we took the lump out!

It's the same coil and distributor as well. Strange. Earth lead removal time then!

Gotta charge the (flat) battery up now

As for colours, they are the sj413 colours, but there are some random wires coming out of russ' loom!!!
Looking at the electrics on it makes mine look professionally done! lol
