Freewheeling Hubs, Can someone explain to a noob please! :)

Starts at the flywheel, ends at the hubs, any problems along them lines, ask your questions here.

Hi guys,

Ive started doing some work on my SJ and have noticed that i have a free wheeling hub on my drivers side and not on the passengers side, im new to all this and was just wondering what do they do as if they are good ill get one for the otherside,

Freewheeling hubs disengage the drive from the diff to the wheel so that the diff and front prop aren't spinning while driving in 2wd, reducing the wear on the front components and improving your fuel consumption.

I might have 1 spare frewheeling hub ill have a look if you do want another one.
