Todays the Day the frame came off, I was excited but prepared to keep it on if I had to, First thing they did was take some x rays
My consultant told me he was happy and the bone hadn't concertina(-ed?) or mis-shapen, even though it had been supporting my weight for a week or more,
I was quite happy, Its been 14 and 1/2 months since my accident and this feels like a real positive step in the right direction
So they started undoing the nuts and bolts and left me with just the wires poking out
they cut the tail end of the wires close to my skin and alchol swabed the area, most of the wires were straight ordinary wires and slid quite painless (and freely) through my leg, I had 4 wires that were stubbon the first in my ankle was pulled out with pliers and made a grating noise when the wire came out, the last 3 were olive wires which had a knob halfway up the length, they were more painful and bled, after all the wires were removed they bandaged my leg,
I could walk on it after a few minutes (at first it felt like when you bang your knee and it goes dead and weak for a short while) and it felt great. Its alot less painful now, I don't get the niggly frame pain and walking is easier. I have to keep the bandage on till saturday when I can take it off and get my leg wet,
I also had some more good news this week, On tuesday Mrs tramp gave birth to baby tramp at 14.37, he weighed 9lb1 and is our first, Its a very exciting time!
