Brake Lights

Post by Borderboy » Sun Jan 16, 2022 8:07 am

I have a Vitara 1.4 SZ5 All Grip 5 door Auto
The other day a driver cut in front of me very closely. I was in adaptive cruise control so the anti collision activated the brakes to avoid a collision. The driver behind me was tailgating and I was wondering if he got a brake light warning from my car or do the rear brake lights only activate if I physically depress the brake pedal.

You should have stopped to ask the driver behind

I would imagine they do, it wouldn’t be a very good safety system if they didn’t and I’m sure of the guy behind was tailgating and they didn’t then he probably wouldn’t have reacted quickly enough.

That was my assumption but wondered if there was a definitive answer
