Maruti are now making the new Jimny
Apparently they come in a kit form and they just nail 'em together. All going for export but no idea where to or for how much. Makes me wonder why Suzuki launched this truck then stopped making it a year later??
If it ticks over...leave it
Re: Maruti are now making the new Jimny
Seen one last year before all the covid kicked off it looked a good piece of kit to be fair, someone on the forum said they cost an arm and a leg. Wonder if it's a just a cost saving thing, labour/machine costs of putting the car together etc?

Im sure it was to do with emissions. Europe said it doesn't meet their standards i think.
My friend has one, he bought it new for 19k, suzuki rung him other day offered him 21k for it! Definitely an investment.

Yeah the reason they stopped bringing them in was because of emissions limits, they haven’t stopped making them.
My dad has one. Absolutely amazing bits of kit, so much nicer than the old jimny.

I've only ever seen one and it looked amazing. Surely Suzuki can get past the emissions? How hard can it be...

Re: Maruti are now making the new Jimny
It's not the Jimny in particular that's the problem, DC. Every manufacturer has targets for their entire range that the EU sets, and the Jimny pushed Suzuki over the edge. They plan on bringing it back as a "commercial vehicle" by removing the back seats, bypassing the emissions limits as it's then not a "passenger car" and as such does not get factored into the equation.
It's why Aston Martin rebranded a Toyota IQ as the "Aston Martin Cygnet" - to cheat emissions regs.
If they make more hybrids or start making electric cars, we might see the return of the Jimny with the back seat. They can't make Jimny's fast enough to supply Japan, let alone the rest of the world, so they cut the Jimny from EU markets as it made more sense to do that than struggle to meet the EU targets somehow.

I see now. Still a bit of a bummer. Taking of the Aston Martin, there's a dealer near me and when I first saw that Toyota for £40k I couldn't believe it. However they sold a few here, no doubt to rich idiots wives who thought they actually were driving a 'proper' Aston
