Re: Oil change
Apologies for the daft questions,I've not had my own car since my teens, a life of company cars has left me with a total memory loss of the basics.
I'd read on one forum that older engines can benefit from 20w 50 but somewhere else that using it can drop hp and lose mpg. Then read somewhere else that in warmer countries this wasn't an issue.went with the 15w40 as specified, but might try the 20w50 next Summer...maybe.

Re: Oil change
15w40 is fine, honestly. I use semi synthetic. And don't forget to change the oil filter at the same time!
If it ticks over...leave it
Re: Oil change
To be honest it's only a filter and oil change I ever do, although there was an advisory note on the ITV this year, one of the rear brakes is 15 percent less efficient than the other although I did try an emergency stop on the way home and it stayed in a straight line,so it's a job for next November...ISH.donkeychomp wrote: ↑Sat Nov 21, 2020 9:21 pm15w40 is fine, honestly.
