Fuel Gauge
Fuel Gauge
OK My fuel gauge does not work, there was no wires attached any where but managed to get one one the terminal on top of sender to the Yellow / Red which I believe is the right wire for this.
Still nothing on the gauge. There was only the one terminal on the sender, so does it have to be Earthed also, as cant see where to Earth it from ??
Thanks

Re: Fuel Gauge
It earths through the tank itself. Check for any breaks in the wiring.
Very possible the sender is goosed. New senders can be bought for about £25 off ebay.

Thanks
Re: Fuel Gauge
Got a used Fuel Tank, wired it up on the ground and sender works, so pleased about that,
BUT, there is a pipe snapped off on top circled in pic think its the return pipe, it is part of the tank, but is there a way I can attach another pipe or hose to connect to fuel line as on other tank??

Re: Fuel Gauge
Could you not just use the sender from the 'new' tank ? and keep the 'new' tank as a spare !
Re: Fuel Gauge
I would of Mate but its different for some reason, the other one is like Defender they dont have screws it twists / locks in to place same as this one in pic,

Re: Fuel Gauge
One is a spanish tank.
The one in the photo with the snapped return is a japanese tank.

Re: Fuel Gauge
If the pipe stub is secure enough could you use a thread Tap to cut a thread inside the pipe stub and screw a pipe adaptor into it ?
Re: Fuel Gauge
Just found that out Mate, Senders are different, someone has fitted a spanish tank at some point.
Found a Jap tank local, picking it up tomorrow , so will fit that assuming the sender is good , if not I know I have one good one to swap in.

Re: Fuel Gauge
Fitted another tank today and all good. Gauge working and no leaks.
Jordi is right My original was Spanish, my truck is Jap so someone must have fitted this tank at some point,
Tanks are the exact same shape but the Spanish has the feed pipe coming from Sender, the jap has it coming out from top of tank. so different senders.
Im glad I didnt order new one before I had seen it. Anyway for future reference.
In pic Left is Spanish, Right is Jap
