Personally i don’t believe you should be allowed out with a tool set unless supervised by anyone 5yrs or older.

Sure, in some way, shape or form you have possibly improved it, maybe.

Ultimately congratulations for not blowing it up yet or maiming yourself whilst working on it.

Once i get mine sorted we’ll have to have a ride out bud, do some P&P or laning.

Ha agreed, that's why I took my 28 (in dog years) friend with me to supervise.

Got the engine bay put back together, all new arches completed and the interim respray complete.

Will have it back on the road in no time and we can go run a few lanes soon Jordi!

Not an interesting update but here goes, ordered a new horn because the original one sounded like an old hedgehog farting. Twin 12v horns so put them through a relay, nice and loud at last.

Then thought I would fix the oil seep which I assumed was the rear crank seal.

Got the gearbox disconnected and unbolted, front cross member off, exhaust off via a face smash, intermediate prop off, then tipped all the gearbox oil into my hat and down my sleeve, ended up throwing a hissy fit and going home. Gearbox currently wedged between mid cross member and clutch plate, where it will stay for a few days :argh:

Been working on this quite a lot but always forget to take pictures. Any way, front bump stops were only hitting the axles on the corner so remade the front extenders to move the stops 40mm forwards.

Rear shocks were bottoming out so made some bump stop extenders (just standard box so no exciting photos). Currently making an adapter bar to take astra shocks on the rears.

Now yes I know they seem grossly over engineered for what they are, however through a standard Tim misunderstanding I accidentally ordered 7.5m of 50mm box, so I'm using that. 50mm is too wide for the original shock studs so had to make the box section shorter by 12mm to fit. Also needed to angle where the new pins will go, not to destroy the bushes.

Aside from these mods I have done a little bit of general house keeping. New tbox mounts as I tore one and bent one of the arms in Wales. Replaced a few UJ's that had either a bit of play, or had failed entirely.

New LUK clutch gone in, rear axle oil seal was leaking (I fitted the previous one wrong :hahaha: )

Now I can't decide whether to extend the front shock mounts to take extended shocks, or leave the current set up so I can use the Astra shocks all round.

Got a new set of rear YJ springs arriving next week as mine are pretty tired, then its just a bit of tinkering to get it all finished.....maybe some new boots :brows:

Tidy progress Tim.

Hasn’t taken long to get it sorted again. More general maintenance than anything by the look of it.

Got the rear adapter bar finished up, painted and fitted. Went on a lot more snug than I had imagined. New rear shocks in so now I can use the same astra shocks all the way around.

Welded on the extended rear bump stops and had a little flex test to check nothing bottoms out that shouldn't.

New rear springs should arrive on Wednesday so will get them fitted, then all being well its off to get its new stainless exhaust built and fitted.

The rear diff is weeping around the housing, I have some liquid gasket to fix it, can I just unbolt the housing and clean and re-seal it, or does the flange nut and lots of other stuff have to come off first?

Yes, the diff just pulls out. No need to undo the flange.

Just need to pull the half shafts out first.

Adaptor bar for the shocks looks spot on too bud 👍
