ok guys going to do a wheel bearing on the front and the king pin bearings on the same side at the weekend. so tonight i cleaned all bolts up sprayed them with lube gave it a while and slackened bolts of and tightend them back up again so i no i wont have to use heat on them. then i went to one of the kingpin bolts and loosened it and water came out onto my hand so tightened it back up.
question 1. how does water get in there in the first place.
2.how do you get rid of the water once you take kingpin out i take it the water is also in the diff/crown as well then
cheers

Kingpin Bearings
Re: Kingpin Bearings
There are no drains so it's a fault with them all! I tend to do a diff oil change, degrease the CV's and get rid of any stray grease, then regrease the CV's and kingpins, make sure you do the axle oil seal too.
That reminds me, my right kingpin needs doing now. FML!

There shouldn't be any drains....if there was water could get in easier.
If all the seals are in good shape then water shouldnt get in.
