Post by scot the sniper » Thu Feb 16, 2017 1:18 pm

hi guys looking for the best way to go to give the jimny a 2" lift and is there any trick and tips to doing this and also is there anything worth doing to it while your fitting the 2" lift kit?

thanks in advance

The best way is to use lift springs and longer shocks, prop spacers and longer brake lines. Ideally you will want some adjustable panhard rods and caster corrected radius arms but you can get away without.

Personally I hate all these spring spacers and shock extensions you see for sale everywhere.

Agreed with Scott - Spacers and Extensions look dangerous to me!

Shocks and Springs for a 2in lift, nothing else needs to be changed, 2"+ you will need to spend more money on Panhards, Arms, extended brake lines etc etc.

Panhard is the one that goes from chassis to axle, paralel to the axle, does that make sense?

what are people's thoughts on castor correction bushes? I have corrected radius arms on mine, but Scott the sniper might want to know ;)

I've always been told you don't need corrected bushes / arms until you go over 2in lift?

Pretty good history, last advisorys was

Advisory notice item(s)
nearside rear Body has slight corrosion body mount (6.1.B.2)
offside rear Body has slight corrosion body mount (6.1.B.2)
offside front steering ball seal dislodged, but not leaking

No Mileage discrepancies, it was undersealed in 2013, thick which was an advisory, which may be to cover up rust... other than that, it's just bushes and joints.

Obviously i'm only reading this off the .gov.uk site, which could have errors, but looking at the history, i'd just check the rear end for rot!

And, it's a december 2001, so it's £240 a year road tax, if it was earlier than March 2001 it would only be £120!!!!

thanks for all your help guy but im not a jimny owner yet unfortunatly. on arrival it was parked beside a shed with passenger side up close to the shed so i could not get to that side but on inspection of driverside rear arch was all corroded and so was the mount also underneath the brake pipes were really badly corroded and also the fuel pipes were that bad its a wonder they were not already leaking and at 1000 pounds i had to say no. so the search goes on. i have a rough budget of £1500 if you hear of any up my way in scotland give me a should. im gonna hang of till i get one . the hunt continues once again thx guys i will keep you posted
