Yep I could lift the Suzuki 1.3 and 1.6 but no way was i going to get one of them of the floor without a lift

Thanks for all the advice so far guys. I'm getting closer to a decision. Looks like leaf springs and a LWB to be different.
If I get a diesel are there stronger front springs to account for the weight? It's probably going to end up lifted so I can get some decent tyres in there. Also does the diesel come with different diff ratios, or transfer box. I'd imagine a little petrol engine's going to spin up to quite high revs. Diesel will probably pull, what 4,000 rpm? Not looking for high speeds as it's probably going to be just local runs. But I'd like to be able to cruise around 100 kph if I decide to travel any distance.
It'll definitely have a winch fitted, so add that and a decent bumper in to the mix.

Checked wiki (so it must be right. LOL). Early factory diesels were Peugeot, then they swapped to Renault for the "third generation' models. Pug is a 1.9, wiki say the Renault is a 1.5. Yet all ads I've seen for cars say 1.9 whether Pug or Renault engine???

They went for mazda engines on the later engines I believe. 2.0td
might have been used in some renaults as well though?
apparently they are well known for issues with the electronic and ecu but i havent actually had a look at one myself

That's in the GV not the samurai ;) well as far as I'm aware

So what did you get ?

I think you'll find the pickups there are leally LWBs with a plastic roof & cab-back.

When ever I would go to my local dealer in the Algarve the "pickups" were all leaf sprung with 1.9 Peugeot engines (possibly turbos)
