Post by daemon982 » Tue Nov 03, 2015 8:58 am

hi all

i have a problem with m Vitara, after few miles and on working temperature it started to misfire from the exhaust.

Does any one know what should be the problem any idea? Spark plug leads, dizzy cap, rottor?

thank you

Could be a leak in the Carb to inlet gasket or the gasket between inlet manifold & head.

while its running rough try spraying carb cleaner etc all around the mating faces of the gaskets, sometimes it will start running smooth if you hit an area where there is an air leak.

Also pull the plugs out and look to see if any look washed. If it's leaking between a water channel then it will allow a small amount of water into the intake causing a misfire and it usually washes a plug or 2 clean, depending where the leak is.

When i start the car it's running fine no misfire. It runs great. The problem occurs after a drive it a few miles.

I will try to pull the plugs out and try from there on.

When the engine warms up, some metal parts can expand slightly. not much but enough to allow a bad gasket to start leaking, hence why it's probably ok cold.

Check that the auto choke is disengaging when the engine is warmed up.
