Picked up the rebuilt calipers today and gave them a lick of high heat paint and lacquer (also high heat) only to find the right hand one has been put together backwards. Guess I'll take it back tomorrow and get them to do it right. On a happier note the MOT tester says the DVLA have got their arse in gear and she can get MOT'd!

Also been on the lookout for a single race seat for Elsie...you can get them new but they are very expensive...then I saw two seats on ebay for £40 all in with postage. They turned up and one is for an LC, even has the correct size recess to accept the original rear light the other is for an RD so I'll clean that on up and sell it on.

Same old same old. I finished the race seat today and does it fit? Does it my shiny metal ass. However the other seat does...it was made for an LC...other seat for an RD and I plonked it on the race bike to check...I think it looks superb. So the original RD seat will go on ebay!

DONG! The headlines tonight..DVLA finally recognise Elsie and she can go have an MOT. DONG! Much frantic front brake rebuilding and bleeding. DONG! Race seat finished and is on.

Enough news at 10...all is well in the LC world. She is booked in for an MOT on tuesday, now the 3rd try. The race seat IS on but to be honest I think it spoils the clean lines of the bike. However when I hit the power band on her I get thrown off the back so this will act as a bum stop and I can really nail the old girl on the way to the MOT testers. I will either put the old seat back on or try and find a less aggressive looking race seat. For now it'll do.

It'll look better once she's painted, plus it won't look "wrong" when you're riding, your body will break up the lines anyway.

Mine would break up the suspension, but that's another thing...

Having said that, to my eye, it would look better with something with sweeping curves, ala:

I know that seat isn't right either, but I do like the sweeping lines.

The bike is co0ming along really nice, but the race seat just does not look right,it may help you when you are turning up the wick into the power band but for looks it just detracts from the looks big time. That other bike that you have is just a total balls out racer, its what 2 smokes are all about,i bet the power is just like switching a light switch on ie all or nothing power wise.

Good luck with the MOT,my Vitara is being welded up this week,so should have a pass ticket on it before the weekend.

Fat lot of good the MOT did me. After advice from the Yamaha forum I filled in form V55 (new log book thingy) and sent it off with all the docs they required. Comes back saying I didn't enclose the correct fee. It's £55 for a new V5 but an added £38 for a years tax..hey ho. Then the BIGGIE. No NOVA document. Notification of Vehicle Arrival. Cock. With yet more forum help I registered with the government's website and had a go and boy oh boy is it complicated. With the forum's advice I did tell a few porkies as I went along and 2 minutes after I finished it and submitted it I got an email saying NOVA accepted!! Fee? Nada. YES!
So monday I will mail off everything with a cheque for £93 and Elsie should get a number plate.

And while we are on a happy note I took the tail unit and side panels home and applied the decals and a ton of lacquer. Wow is all I can say, tank is next.

Looking good there!

I think I like Zonky's colour scheme a bit more, but that does look good. Probably easier to live with day to day too - less lairy.

Still, you know me, I do like loud. :D
