New Member / Malta / Maruti Gypsy

Post by 0tub » Sat Oct 24, 2015 5:49 pm

Hi all,

This is my, first post as i just discovered this forum.
I'm currently living in Malta an i few month ago i bought a Maruti/Suzuki Gypsy soft top ( long wheel)
I apologies in advance for my eventual English mistakes cause i'm French.

About the car, As i said before, it's a Maruti Gypsy (i'll add pics during the week) . I think Malta is the only country where it's sold in Eu. I unfortunately don't know the original engine, but the unloaded propeller has been replaced by a Toyota 1.5 diesel. This modification looks usual Here. One of my friends has a Samurai with the same engine inside.

The car is currently White and conform to the original (except the engine)
My 1st action was to replace the fan by a more efficient one : Maltese Sun + carjam = over heating
I also had to replace the rear differential after two month of use.

My project so far is to remove the big soft top to a smaller one who could just close the cabin and remove the "cage" rollbar to add something who could more looks like a real all road roll bar.

So, My first question, Is somebody know a web site who allow me to order a soft top for my gypsy ?

Regards,

Otub

Welcome!! I'm in malta as well and there are a few of us here in malta. The best place for parts is Nc auto parts in Ghaxaq. Also you can check www.maltapark.com for second hand spares.

Hi all,

I'm glad to see there is several guys from Malta here :)
As i'm not a native, is good to know peoples who can give you the good adresses .

Thanks Courior ! ill go to check for roll bar and soft top ( just cabin roof + wind jammer)

Yeah dan_2k_uk, good idea for the name ^^. Maybe a dedicated section could be a good idea as well ...

Is someone have an idea about the cost of full painting for a Gypsy ?

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Im also an english expat living in malta.

Id be interested to see how your 15 turbo conversion has been done as I'm looking to do something similar myself.... whereabouts are you? Its not exactly far to get anywhere here

I'm with courior any parts you need definitely go to NC auto parts first... I get all my bits from there.
