Amazing fuel economy

Post by 88SJ » Thu Oct 22, 2015 9:02 pm

Had to go from Solihull to Cardiff yesterday to collect an engine - so needed to take the SJ

240 mile round trip mostly motorway cruising between 60 and 70 and bear in mind I had an extra engine in the back on the way home and fuel economy was 33mpg =O

I couldn't believe it either so checked the man maths and it is correct...stp flush must be better than I expected..??..

Perfect all round versatile motors these SJs!!

Mine does about 30 mpg at 70, and I have to thrash it to get it there/keep it there because of the 1.3 and the biiiig tyres.

Hopefully when the 1.6 goes in, and the rocklobster, I'll get a bit more.

Get about 27 in the Vit, 35 in the LJ. Light is better then lol
If it ticks over...leave it

I think at higher speed, you need to worry more about aerodynamic drag than weight. But I think that your LJ's tyres mean it's gearing may be better suited to cruising with the 1.6 than the Vit.
