Post by gratton » Tue May 19, 2015 7:07 am

Hi all this is my 1st sj 410 I was driving down a country lane and the steering control was crazy almost lost control at one point.
it's hard to explain it was like towing a caravan when it snakes I was only doing 40mph.

Details and pics of the suspension and steering set up please.

Could be a number of things, the steering box could need adjusting too if there is a lot of free play.

cut the shackles down to 100mm (4" ish) between bolt holes or fit standard shackles that are 70mm between bolt centres.

With shackles as long as yours the caster angle is all screwed up and they allow more lateral movement. Both of those will cause handling issues, it also makes it worse offroad as it reduces your approach angle and they just dig in all the time.

Everything else looks ok but check the wheel bearings and kingpins for play and replace any worn bushes etc.
