Hey guys I'm a newbie to all this so sorry if it is a blatenly obvious problem lol.
Basicly i bought a '94 samurai and took it laning and about 10 minutes after we had finished i was driving home the engine lost 90% of power, so i put my foot flat down on the throttle and it sounded like it wasnt getting enough fuel into the engine. after about a mile of bumping along it suddenly picked up power again and got me home without a problem. now every time i drive it, it runs sweet as a nut for about a mile and then the same problem happens loses all power and sometimes stalls.
So basicly it has got an electric puel pump fitted, so what i have to do is stop, leave the pump running then start it up again and it will go another few hundred yards before losing power again so it is obviously a fuel problem somewhere.
Dont think it is a problem with fuel pump as it is pumping fuel through and was working for over a week before i took it off road.
any of you experts out there had the same problem or know what you think it is? if none of what i said makes any sense then let me know and ill try and explain better lol cheers.

Re: Engine keeps losing power
Hiya ,
Could be anything, something simple, maybe not.
But it sounds like crap in the fuel lines, from fuel tank to engine.
Do you know much about the Sammy's history ? Fuel filter is cheap to buy and swap over.

Re: Engine keeps losing power
checked carb, changed fuel filter and checked fuel flow....all fine but still playing up
Re: Engine keeps losing power
Just to check did you whip all the jets out of the carb and give them a good blow through to make sure they are clear? if your not sure how to do it i'll dig out a carb and do a little how to guide for you
I'm afraid the carbs on sammys are known to trouble and give lots of problems because they are so over complicated.
might be worth throwin it at the neighbours dog and saving for an SU conversion.
I would also give the rotor arm and dizzy cap a good inspection, just for good measure.
