All the early hardtops came with a G series engine, the M13 engine came in from 2000 in the tintops.

Yeah, that's why I said some of the early hardtops have G series engines, although there are a number of guys on bigjimny who claim to have 1999 hardtop jimny's with M series engines - so I didn't bother talking about the year they went from G to M, I think the official line that they went to M series in 2000 may be a bit fuzzy. Or it may simply be that there are a number of guys on bigjimny who don't know what a G series or an M series look like.
