FUEL GAUGE AGAIN

Post by basil » Thu Mar 12, 2015 10:13 am

Thought i had cured the erratic gauge after alternator replaced but it all over the place sometimes very high at other times low and on the odd occasion reads correctly.......is there room for me to put my hand up and wiggle the connector on the tag without removing the tank ??????
just in case its a bad connection and a movement might correct it...perhaps a touch of WD40 ON the spade terminal....
thanks Jim

Dont think there is room to get your hand up round the tank, pretty sure they sit too close to the boot floor. Trying it i guess would be my advice, stick your hand up, if it fits, bonus, if it doesnt, 4 bolts, drop the tank! Or just take out 2 bolts, and loosen the other two, should tip far enough forwards to be accessible.

Haha yeah its annoying having to fit your fingers in the gap between the tank and the body...
Easy if you take the fuel tank off but who can be bothered with that..
More scraped fingers it is

Its four bolts.

I'd just drop the tank down. There should be ample pipe and cables for it to drop a few inches. Just need to disconnect the filler pipe.

I've seen an SJ where someone had put a hatch above the tank.

Just drop the tank, it's so easy and doesn't take long.

That's something I'll have to try when I have the time/energy. My fuel guage is all but useless, it only ever reads half full or empty. As far as my SJ is concerned, there's no other state the tank can be in.
