Hi
Just lately the sj (knacker) hasnt been to well! i killed it at the last trial i was on, lots of very steep hills and tight twisty angular slopes, seemed to have buggered up the carb a bit meaning that it had to be winched back onto the trailer.
That steep slippery slope in front of me, was a section of the trial
Also the handbrake was very high, so i expected a stretched cable or similar!
Got it home, and cleaned out the carb, re filed with oil and it ran fine
The back box got tore up on the trial, so a few hours of bending, plating, more bending swearing and a bit of welding got it all sealed up again and back to where it should be, and more importantly quiet!
When i took the back brakes apart, i found them to be very dry and muddy, the pads had hardly any life left in them. So i cleaned up the hanger and calliper, greases the hanger with copper grease, put some grease on the back of the pads, and after figuring out that the rover pistons "screw" back into the calliper rather than push, i could re assemble.
So now fingers crossed he is all ready for the trial in Ford near Shrewsbury on Sunday
