Re: karls sammy
hi mate. Ive got myself the top half of a lamp post from work and was lookin at makin a front bumper similar 2 urs.
Cant really tell from the photo is the bumper mounted on the old bullbar mounts on the end of the chassis rails or have u made summin up to mount it to the raised parts the body sits on that its in front of?
If it is mounted on the lower mounts is it strong enough.

Hey Dan
this is the clearest pic i've got of how the bumpers are mounted! the holes in the chassis are drilled out to 12mm and then tubes are welded into the chassis legs. this is to stop it crushing the chassis as the bolts are tightened and of course to add strength for recoveries! the mounting plates are cut out of 10mm thick steel plate (think i might still have a template somewhere) hope this helps a bit!

Re: karls sammy
bit sneaky of me but thought i'd add some pics of the prop spacers i made karl
helps if you have the kit to do it of course...
cutting off some aluminium on horizontal bandsaw
then onto a lathe to turn down the diameter, and square up the front face
then start drilling
using a boring tool with carbide tip to bore out the center
then turned it around in lathe chuck, clocked it up square and machined the outside lip flange on
then enlisted some help to get the hole positions drilled on the right 'pitch circle diameter' on a mill
then repeat it all again and 'TA DA!' we have 2 universal prop spacers...
took a bit longer than i expected but then thats the 1st time i've used a lathe in a couple of years so i was a bit rusty

Re: karls sammy
they look the dogs. wish i had a place off work like that.
wood make them all day an sell them
wood make them all day an sell them
Re: karls sammy
to be honest with the price of material and the time it takes to produce each 1 etc if i was gonna make them to sell i wouldn't make any money even if it was labour cost of £5 an hour your still looking at a whole day to produce them and thats in my own time after i've done my work for the day. so the one's you see on ebay etc for £35 ish aren't badly priced
if in doubt, FLAT OUT!
