Risking sounding like a broken record here, but I wish I'd stayed spring under axle and done a virtual lift (enlarged the wheel arches) instead. Less work, and it has no disadvantages. Stock parts in stock places, no need for custom steering arms, drag links, extended brake lines, propshaft spacers etc etc.ScottieJ wrote:Keep it spring under axle
SPOA is too high (less stable offroad), and results in more axle wrap and makes your SJ less capable at climbing.
Virtual lift for the win. If/when my health starts to get back to normal, I plan on doing a virtual lift on mine, and dropping her back down to stock height.

Hmm will be speaking with my mechanic about this for sure. So to do a virtual lift you would only need to enlarge the wheel arches?

I think a mechanic would charge a lot for a virtual lift as there is quite a bit of cutting and welding.
If you have a welder it can be done quite easily it just takes a little while...
If you fancy coming for a bit of light off roading there is a load of us meeting up at Zonqar tower (Marsascala) at 9.15 on saturday!

You can run 31" tyres with just 2" lift and minor tweaks it's set up properly.
I used to run 31x11.50 tyres on 10" wide wheels on just 2" lift springs. You do need to run an aftermarket front bumper or modify the standard one as the outriggers get in the way and you need to slightly modify the bulkhead either by folding the seams over or by cutting them off and welding it up (my preferred method)
