fuel gauge

I fill the tank up and only reads 3/4 so I took the tank out took the float out and all looks good .when I turn ignition on and test the sender wire and earth it the test light only just lights up. I mean very low light. any help. thanks

Is it the original tank?
If it ticks over...leave it
