Half doors
Half doors
Got a spare set of doors hear (somewhere ), wanting to turn them into half doors.
Undecided on how i want them to look yet tho, anyone got any pics?
Not to bothered about keeping the original handles, but it would be nice as i have keys for the locks... i know you can climb over them but it does finish it of

Re: Half doors
I've got some that I have half finished at home Henry. here's a bit of a crap pic
but i'll get I'll get some good pictures up at the weekend for you as I have a cunning little way of doing it so that the half doors still use the original door catches, I have removed the locks though as there isn't much point having locks on them

Re: Half doors
found another pic. I'll take a pic of what I have done to the catch mechanism. I've basically just cut all the unwanted bits of the mechanism off level with the cut on the door and then i'm going to have a hole in the top panel with a rubber grommet so you just push down on the mechanism through the hole and it opens the door. if you get what i mean Imight actually finish these now that the sun is out, I'm going to box the tops in with some ally sheet rivited on.

Re: Half doors
no worry's it was worth a punt, I was thinking about mybe making some clamps of my own, it annoyes me that the glass just sits in the groove and there is nothing to tighten to hold it,henry-the-hoover wrote:

Re: Half doors
There is meant to be 2 rubbers to hold it in. I was thinking about getting come C Channel (thin) and using that.
But it would have to be exact to stop the window jamming where the rollers go.

Re: Half doors
I know but it is just sort of sat in on it hoping that its wedged in well enough, rather than phisically clamped,henry-the-hoover wrote:There is meant to be 2 rubbers to hold it in.
Good point i thought about using nuts and boltsto clamp the halves together but like you said it probably wouldn't wind right up to the top then, I might just have to put the winder mech I've got back in I suppose if the track that the glass runs in is clear and lubed the glass shouldn't fall out anywayhenry-the-hoover wrote:I was thinking about getting come C Channel (thin) and using that. But it would have to be exact to stop the window jamming where the rollers go.
