I have just bought a grand vitara 2001 1.6 petrol and the fuel gauge works when it feels like it, the odd thing is that when it does decide to work it dosen't matter if the ignition is on or off, now the temperature gauge goes on and off with the ignition switch which I am sure the fuel gauge should do too, according to the wiring diagram a live is supplied to the gauge when the ignition is on and the the earth is aquired via a changing resisistance on the fuel sender, so in theory this gauge must be getting a live from somewhere when the key is off, any ideas anyone ?
