Re: My Samurai
Finally found a few minutes to have another look at this, stuck the pressure gauge on the new pump just for a sanity check and it's bloody putting out more pressure than the old one!! :argh: Showing just shy of 6psi when it should be 2.1psi! No wonder it was pushing fuel past the jet. Another few da...

Re: My Samurai
So I've checked the float height and it's correct. Reassembled the carb and it's still pushing fuel up past the needle. I've made a quick video to show what's happening. https://youtu.be/UmBXcHA0lI8 Also, checked the two other SU carbs I have on the shelf and they have a similar amount of free play ...

Re: My Samurai
Not sure I'm out of the woods just yet, but this is definitely an improvement. I took it for a test drive yesterday and it's driving much better. Although still getting a bit of a fluttering idle when hot. I took the air filter pipe off the carb and was looking down at damper piston to see if the fl...

Re: Camping Trailer
Been thinking about the best / most effective way to get a lid on this trailer for a while. Box section and sheet steel or Ali checker plate was crazy money. Finally decided that chopping a land rover roof to suit is the best way, sturdy and light. Picked this up this evening, off a 88" series....

IMG_20210320_135643603_resize_23.jpg Huco fuel pump fitted. Made a bracket to hang it off the back of the intake manifold so it's tucked in out of the way against the bulkhead. Only had time to give it a very quick run but it looks to be an improvement. Need to get it proper hot to be certain. Pump...

Re: Newbie from South Africa
Nice truck!
2 years ago I spent a few days in Capetown and the rest of two weeks doing the garden route. Stunning place! My favourite was the Addo self drive safari. Almost got our RAV4 rental stuck, luckily we didn't need to get out and push!

Re: My Samurai
Doing some googling and came across this forum thread, same engine and same issues, unfortunately the guy never confirmed if he found a fix. https://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/200774/electric-fuel-pump-su-hif44 Rather than order a pressure regulator to go with the cheap pump I have, I've decided t...

Re: My Samurai
Valve clearances checked and all ok. I haven't added locktite as I didn't need to change any, but point noted for next time. Thanks
