So it was starting ok before the service? If so, it's unlikely the glow plugs will have stopped working suddenly, unless they are disconnected?
It sounds like air lock if there's nothing at the injector.

Re: My Samurai
So I've compared the pistons and mine looks to be ok wear wise, compared with another used one at least. I'll get a video later. I've also bought a pressure gauge for checking fuel and vacuum. Fuel pressure measuring at just over 4psi at 12.6v and as high as 5 when engine on and blipping throttle. I...

Re: My Samurai
Yes, flutters up and down but like you say, only slightly. Give me a day or so and I'll get a video to show you what I mean. Thanks
As it happens I have a spare SU belonging to a friend, I'll compare and see if they have similar play.

Re: My Samurai
Cheers Scottie, I guessed that might have been the case but thought I would try it just in case. I'll stick it back to 10 and go from there.

Re: My Samurai
So i had a bit of a play at the weekend, the timing was set to 10 degrees, I've now changed it to 8. I've ordered some proper SU dashpot oil. In the meantime, I put in some 10w40 that I had spare. Noticeably thicker than the 3in1. The above hasn't fixed the problem. Bogging down on accels and now ge...

Re: My Samurai
Its a proper welded manifold. I had thought that, but I'm pretty sure I ran it on a mild day a week or so back when it was around 10 degC and it still happened. Would carb icing happen when it's that warm? Either way I'm not certain, so I'll deffo route a warm air feed and see if it helps. I'll chec...

Re: My Samurai
So I've been having some running issues that I'm struggling to get to the bottom of. I bought a 1.6 8v with an SU carb attached ages ago and installed it earlier this year. it was running fine at idle and pottering around the yard. It was only last month when I took it out on the road to get MOT'd t...

Re: Starting from cold, not starting from warm... SJ 413
If it's running really rich it may run ok whilst cold but then flood the engine when trying to start hot. What do the park plugs look like after a decent run out? If it's rich they will be covered in black soot.
