Re: joe's restoration!
thanks for the tip, preperation will probably take me a while as its already been painted with a brush, so sanding it smooth will probably take longer than it should. i will probably buy a random action sander, will that be any good?
also i could do with an O/S roll bar pillar.
thankyou

Re: joe's restoration!
hello again scuk, ive been trying to soldier on with the welding, but i was just wondering (as i do) about the flange that was in the wheel arch, it stuck down at a 45o angle, as far as i can see all it did was collect mud and rust away but maby it had a reason for being there? is it importiant that...

Re: joe's restoration!
thanks for the welding tips, thats just the sort of information im looking for. i do want to keep it semi standard so i guess the best way to make a replacement panel is to weld in lots of smaller peices to make it bend round easy, i cant really think of any other way of doing it.
thanks
joe

Re: joe's restoration!
made merry with the grinder today, ended up cutting away more then i thought though. i started cutting away the rear lower quater pannel and then it extended to the wheel arch, i was going to put a strip of fibreglass tape inside but now it seems more apropriate to weld new metal on there as it is q...

Re: joe's restoration!
Just a little tip as you have had the head to bits. The little screws that hold the rockers on love to come undone on there own and fall into the valves. If you use a pin punch and drift it in the side of the screw when you have done them up they won't come undone on there own. ;) thanks for a grea...
