The body needs a small amount of clearancing but it just bolts straight onto the chassis.

Don’t forget you also need to shorten the steering column, you will need a press.
More effort and the steering box did fit fine.

Yes aware column needs shortening. Getting assistance with that. Thanks.

Re: 1991 Santana Samurai

OK today Samurai steering box removed to fit early Jimny box [part number 48600-81A20]. Jimny box will not fit without some spacers as it fouls the chassis member. Is this usual?

Bracket for Power Steering Pump

I purchased this bracket, from a Vitara I believe, to find centre to centre of holes is some 20mm different to fixing holes on block. My logic suggests I should line up the centres of the crankshaft pulley and pump pulley, see how the holes relate and drill new holes if necessary. Can anyone offer c...

Re: 1991 Santana Samurai

Moving on to alternator upgrade I plan. As expected, distance between fixing lugs on existing bracket will clash with fittings on purchased alternator. We are investigating solutions. 20240330_101854(0).jpg Edit note: Inside dimension between fixing lugs on new alternator is 68mm Outside dimension o...

Re: 1991 Santana Samurai

My experience of the electric hydraulic pumps when combined with the Jimny steering box is that it’s usually quite rubbish and the steering is still heavy, people used to use the PSA units. I would just fit a suzuki based, engine driven pump using a kit. It’s a simple and reliable set up that’s pro...
