Re: Quick timing question!

Turns out timing & mixture were fine. 6 month old spark plug with < 500 miles on it was knackered.

Runs much better now, but good to know it'll still do 50mph on 3 cylinders!

Thanks for the help though

Re: Quick timing question!

I definitely blanked the vac advance off. I think the timing was 10 degrees and the idle was around 800

Re: Quick timing question!

Thanks for the replies!

I have a BDL needle & red spring

Tyres are 235/75 15's. I was hoping to go to 31"s but am a bit reluctant now if that's all the power i'm going to get.

Quick timing question!

I have a 413 with an su carb on Rockwatt manifold. The sj seems down on power, doesn't really like hills and tops out at 50mph. I'm running a rocklobster if that makes a difference. By looking at previous posts, I'm led to believe this is a timing issue, so 1, is it a timing issue? 2, what should th...

Re: Greenlane plan ????

You're best bet is to get some OS Landranger maps 1:50000 (pink ones!) of the area you're thinking of going. Greenlanes or Byway Open to All Traffic (BOAT) are marked as pink -+-+-+ other routes that you may be able to drive are marked as pink dots (other route with public access) In both cases you ...

Re: Brake caliper advise

Ha! Thanks Scott. Well i've done a bit more research and the vitara calipers (1.6 1989-2000) are smaller than the sj ones (48.1mm to 51mm) It is also right that the smaller ones go on the rear, which in my case has the added benefit that I can fit the vit calipers at the 9 o'clock position instead o...

Brake caliper advise

Hi guys I'm doing a rear brake disc conversion and i thought whilst I'm at it i'll get some vitara calipers to go on the front and use my front calipers on the rear to improve my braking all round. I picked up some vitara calipers last night and I noticed that the piston on these are smaller than th...
